​Alyx Deaner, MA, LPC, NCC, CATP

​Alyx is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Michigan

and a Certified Adolescent Trauma Professional (CATP).  She obtained

her Master's in Counseling from Wayne State University in 2019.

Alyx has worked with traumatized and neglected children in Child

Advocacy Centers and private practice. Alyx not only counsels children,

but also collaborates with caregivers, the criminal justice system, schools,

and other professionals when necessary to meet the needs of her clients.  

Primary treatment methods include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and TraumaPlay. Alyx provides a safe environment for her clients by utilizing play therapy, animal-assisted therapy, kinesthetic grounding, and group therapy to help children and adolescents ages three and up heal from traumatic experiences. Alyx works from an attachment-based lens to help provide the family system with tangible ways to care for a traumatized child or teenager. 

In her free time, Alyx enjoys traveling, attending her church, and reading.
