Mary Carpenter, LMSW

Mary Carpenter is a Licensed Master Social Worker and is licensed

with the state of Michigan.  Mary graduated from Missouri State

University with both a Bachelor’s and Master's Degree in Social

Work.  She also holds an Associates of Arts Degree from Ozark

Community College.

Mary has co-owned Insight Counseling Services since January 2014

with her husband Douglas Carpenter, PsyD. Prior to starting this practice,

she worked as a psychotherapist at Perspectives Counseling

Centers in Troy Michigan from 2006-2008 and 2010-2014.  She

has experience teaching undergraduate counseling/psychology

courses.  Mary has prior experience working as a therapist and

case manager with a multi-disciplinary team in adult and

adolescent psychiatric facilities. 

Mary’s specialties include: Depression, Anxiety, Christian/Biblical Counseling, 

Abuse and Trauma, Adjustment Disorders, Poor Coping to Stressors,  

​Codependency, Self Esteem Issues, Family of Origin Issues, Grief and Loss, 

Stress Management, Marriage and Relationship Issues, and Divorce Prevention and Recovery. She realizes the importance of looking at individual issues as well as the environment’s impact on the client’s overall growth and well-being.  Mary works to address each client’s needs in a manner that promotes self-determination and positive change.

Mary is very active in her local church.  She loves spending time with her two children and her husband, Douglas.
