Insight Counseling Services
Maria received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The
University of Michigan and her Master of Social Work from
Wayne State University.
Prior to joining Insight Counseling Services, Maria provided
individual, family and group psychotherapy to clients of all
ages for 17 years. She developed a children's grief support
group model and facilitated grief support groups for adults,
adolescents and children while offering individual and family
counseling at The Children’s Center of Wayne County from
1997-2008. She then moved to Perspectives Counseling
Centers’ Troy location, focusing on individual and family work
until 2014, when she moved to her present location.
Maria has spoken on the radio and at various churches, schools, hospitals and workplaces on the topics of grief & loss and self-care for the body, mind and spirit. In addition to these areas, her specialties include anger, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, social skills, spiritual issues, and women’s issues.
Maria is passionate about working with children, using art and play to help them express themselves when words are not enough. She is adept at assisting others through life’s transitions, helping them find the peace and strength within themselves.
Maria enjoys reading, dancing and laughing with her husband and their two children.
