James Wratkowski is a Licensed Master Social Worker,
is a Board Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work
(by the American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social
Work), and is a Certified Internal Family Systems
Therapist (IFS). He received his Master’s Degree in
Social Work from Wayne State School of Social Work,
and received extensive training through the Center for Self
Leadership, an organization which provides training to
therapists in the Internal Family Systems Model of therapy.
Jim has previously been a psychotherapist with Perspectives
Counseling in Troy, Michigan and with Eastwood Clinic.
Previous to that he served as a Substance Abuse Therapist
with Henry Ford Hospital.
Jim has specialized training in Substance Abuse, Anger Management, Internal Family Systems Therapy, and Couples Counseling, in addition to mental health counseling. He has served as a Program Assistant for the Center for Self Leadership, Level 1 training program, providing training to therapists who wish to learn the Internal Family Systems Model of therapy. He has provided workshops to other professionals on the topics of Anger Management and Internal Family Systems Therapy.
He has experience in working with children and teens (and their parents) who have experienced ADHD or other emotional and/or behavioral problems. He incorporates family therapy sessions into his work with this population. With adults, he has worked with persons experiencing chronic and acute anxiety, depression, and trauma (including PTSD), substance abuse and recovery, and relationship conflict. He realized the importance of looking at the “emotional and memory burdens” which each person may carry and which influences their present functioning. He recognizes the importance of guiding each person at a pace which is attuned to the individual's needs.
Jim is an active member of his local church, and values time with his family.
